How this works
Your answers are scored against each breed on physical and behavioural trait axes. Physical traits — size, coat type, grooming, heat tolerance — are breed-predictable (high confidence). Behavioural traits — trainability, barking, sociability, separation tolerance — are soft signals only: breed explains roughly 9% of an individual dog's behaviour (Morrill et al., Science 2022), so every behavioural axis is labelled “low confidence” and weighted down in the score.
The matcher filters on local housing and registration requirements and flags breeds with coat or health challenges relevant to your climate. Trait vocabulary follows the validated C-BARQ instrument (Serpell / UPenn). Breed suitability ratings draw on AKC, The Kennel Club and national breed registry sources.
